We are destroying nature. The fact is that the earth as we know it will in all likelihood soon perish. But for a nihilist that is not the worst that could happen.
Seen from a cosmic perspective it is completely irrelevant – the sun will eat the earth anyway in at most seven billion years. And if humanity has managed to settle other solar systems before then, we know from the second law of thermodynamics that the universe will in any case suffer heat death in the end.
