Health

The Nihilistic Democratic Party takes public health seriously and believes Denmark deserves an ambitious, evidence-based and forward-looking health strategy.

For decades Danish politicians have assumed that health policy is about keeping Danes alive. They are obsessed with topping the OECD league table for life expectancy.

The death rate in Denmark holds steady at 100%

It is a hopeless project. The death rate in Denmark holds steady at 100%, and no reform is going to change that. We are sentenced to death by the universe, whatever politicians do to extend our lives. What Denmark needs is root-and-branch reform of its health policy.

Health is not about living long. Health is about feeling good. The World Health Organisation defines health as "a state of complete physical, mental and social well-being and not merely the absence of disease or infirmity" (source: WHO).

The only way to feel good in a meaningless universe is to stay permanently intoxicated with alcohol and/or drugs. NFP will therefore establish walk-in clinics across the country, where anyone at risk of sobering up can be seen without an appointment. NFP puts patients first. The alcohol and drugs dispensed at the clinics will therefore be free at the point of use.

Beyond the acute response at the clinics, we must also invest in prevention. The lifestyle choices of the Danes must be nudged towards a healthier everyday life.

Alongside intoxicants, tobacco and fatty foods are two central components of a healthy lifestyle. The average Dane feels best with a stomach full of fatty food, a beer in one hand and a cigarette in the other. NFP therefore pledges to abolish every sin tax: alcohol, tobacco and fatty foods will be exempt from VAT. Danes need the right incentives to make healthy choices.

We fight for your right to go to the dogs!

  • Be realistic – demand the unreal!

NFP has chosen to put the spotlight on a growing and unacceptable problem: reality. Reality is a media-made symbolic delusion that supplies the population with precisely the illusions of purpose and meaning needed to make anyone bother to carry out their meaningless labour of Sisyphus.
