Foreign aid

The ethical consumer believes he can save the world while we carry on our nihilistic consumption binge. The world will get better if we all just buy organic vegetables and drink Fairtrade coffee. Let us stop war, suffering and hunger by eating rocket salad and drinking flat whites. What a beautiful thought!

The Nihilistic Democratic Party calls for this naive hope of making a difference to be buried at once.

A child dies of hunger every six seconds. The organic veg-box company that delivers a clear conscience to Danish doorsteps turns over 236 million kroner a year. It costs 85 øre – about 11 euro cents – to produce a meal for one of this world's many starving children. For 236 million kroner, 760,000 small, crying, innocent children could have been fed for a year.

The Danes must be stripped of the ethical consumer's comfort blanket and made to realise that they do not care about dead children

NFP is proud of the Danes' gluttony. We, too, dance carefree on to "we are the world, we are the children" while the pile of children's corpses grows day by day. Let us Danes openly own up to what we do – we act as nihilists!

But it is not enough for NFP that we behave as nihilists. The Danish people must also know that they are nihilists. The Danes must therefore be stripped of the ethical consumer's comfort blanket and made to realise that they do not care about dead children.

Concretely, NFP will work to introduce a labelling scheme on all goods, from which one can easily read off how many children's suffering lives one could have prolonged – instead of buying the consumer good in question.

Without cruelty there is no festival!
